Corporate social responsibility

We take our environmental responsibilities seriously and we're determined to be a leader on climate change issues.

Everywhere we can, we're acting to cut our impact on the environment. Our staff car-share whenever possible. We can provide paperless booking and invoicing. And our training embraces COSSH, including correct waste disposal and storage and recycling of clinical equipment.

What's more, we're one of the first companies in our sector to work with co2balance.com to offset our carbon dioxide emissions and become a CarbonZero company.

As part of our commitment, we have helped to build a number of special energy-saving stoves for communities in Kenya.  We were especially very proud to help build an energy-saving stove at Kingwede Secondary School on the coast of Kenya, south of Mombasa which has 530 students, 20 teachers and 16 workers.  Previously the school had only two improvised stoves that forced them to use open fires to cook school meals, now they can cook their meals and bake bread indoors.

As well as saving carbon emissions, the project has financial benefits to the school as it will reduce the amount of money spent on firewood and the reduced need for firewood helps prevent deforestation.

Along with the other domestic stoves in the surrounding communities the need for firewood will now be cut by 70%, save carbon emissions and create employment.

In Goa, we're supporting the important work of the Seva Trust Orphanage helping to improve the lives of seriously underprivileged children.  Read our 'Letters from Goa' to see the great work that's being done.

Newcross is also very proud to support a number of charities both locally and nationally.  We have taken active steps to support good causes through nationwide campaigns such as our longstanding support for Children in Need and more recently Macmillan Cancer Support's 'Worlds Biggest Coffee Mornings' along with a number of local fund raising events such as support for local hospices and causes.
