I have has several e mails from Sister Nirmala at the Serva Trust .The children had a fantastic Christmas ,the children and staff have asked us to pass on their thanks to you the donation we sent them to take" Christmas to Goa ".
We certainly did that the children had 3 days of non stop visits, lovely food and of course presents.
Their Christmas celebrations started on the 22nd of December and were as follows:
- 22nd December The children received and opened their Christmas cards from you .They then visited the children in the slums (the same children that came to the Day Center I visited ) and gave them fruit, snacks and a small gift .They then sang carols
- 3rd December .This was the big day out ! 70 children from the three homes plus 10 staff went to Miramar Park for the day they took a picnic (snacks) played games with prizes .They then had a special lunch at the restaurant ,noodles ,fried rice and fish curry followed by ice cream !.They then went to Dona Paula beach and played more games until 6 pm.The fun continued at Aurora house with more games and prizes and a special meal of Prawn Biriani ,Vegetable Pulow, fruit salad and more ice-cream .The Party finally finished at midnight !Phew
- 24th Christmas Eve The children received their new clothes and shoes (I am told that they were very excited !)and attended the service at Church, afterwards they enjoyed fish with rice and more ice cream
- 25th Christmas Day The children had a special breakfast of patties ,cakes and sweets .They then received their gifts from you I am told that there was great excitement, lots of noise and ripped wrapping paper !.They then enjoyed Christmas lunch of Beef Biriyanie,Chicken Zacuti,Gee rice ,salad and a celebration cake .
In addition to all of the above the money we sent was enough to include the staff in the festivities and to give them each a small gift .The money went a long way !
I have posted a number of photographs of the children on to the booking system in the photos file titled "Christmas 2008 at the Serva Trust" for you to view if you so wish
